I finally went and got my 3rd class medical! Since everywhere in NYC is ridiculously expensive, I had to make the trek out to Newark Airport. I’ve been delaying it because Embraer Boyfriend needed to renew his 1st class medical in May, we were planning on going together. But him being on reserve and my work schedule things weren’t really lining up, so I insisted I was going today no matter what. Luckily, he was called into work so I commuted out there with him.
I say trek out to EWR because it is a trek, and I was afraid of getting lost going the cheap way. It consists of us taking two NYC subways, hopping on the NJ PATH and then a Newark City bus to get to the terminal. He left me there to go to work and I continued on taking another bus to remote parking and going to the building from there.
Everything went fine with the medical. I was worried about the vision part because I’m always worried about the vision part since I’m the only one in my family (including all extended family) without glasses. But I passed and the AME was nice and made a big deal about me signing the student pilot certificate.
Got home and had to call my flight school because unfortunately life is getting in the way again and I had to cancel half of my lesson on Wednesday because I have to get back to go to work. I wish they would have told me sooner since I’ve had that lesson scheduled for about a month now. I call only to get MORE bad news that the 152s were supposed to be back today, but they got caught in a snowstorm so will be back tomorrow; but not in time for the first half of my lesson. ARGH! So my two big block lessons I was so excited about are ruined this week. The weather better behave or I’m going to be seriously disappointed.
