20 year old Jennifer Guetterman is about to go to France to represent the United States (and AOPA) at the Tour Aérien Des Jeunes Pilotes! I was excited to read about this experience for a young pilot and so glad a young female pilot got the chance. AOPA is sponsoring one winner, Jennifer, with airfare, aircraft rental, lodging, basic meals and fuel for this amazing opportunity to race other (mainly French) pilots but it’s more of a learning experience.
It seems like such a wonderful opportunity and also such a great way to promote general aviation in France. I wish the States had such a competition (?) here. The TAJP only takes place every two years and you have to be under 24 years old to qualify. I hope we get to read about her adventures! She is the only American and one of 4 females in the race. Good luck, Jennifer!
