Hi, I’m Caitlin and I am 27 years old living in California. I work for an airline as an aircraft dispatcher. I used to work for a Part 135 company as a flight coordinator and as an aircraft dispatcher instructor in Cincinnati. I originally had a career in theatre in New York City, but have had some major life changes!
I began my interest in aviation after I started dating my current boyfriend who was a regional airline pilot at the time. I flew on planes a lot before we dated but didn’t know much more but I learned so much more and here’s the scary part: I loved to learn about it. I always wanted to know more from him, so I built up my courage (and savings!) and told him I wanted to take flight lessons to earn my Private Pilot’s License (PPL). I was shot down the first time but I dove in and did my research to come back a few months later saying it again and presented my findings so he supported me. In February, I made my way out to Republic Airport (KFRG) to have my discovery flight. It confirmed my fixation and I’ve been on my way ever since on this adventure. Granted, scheduling, weather and life have gotten in the way plenty of times but on October 29th, 2013 I earned my PPL!
I wanted to blog about my experiences through my training in hopes to reach out and relate to other pilots, student or otherwise. Also, just to document my training and it gives me another way to think about it after the lesson. I keep trying to add more posts to help students on their journey. I hope you enjoy.
